today, most Android apps have a monochrome icon that the user can choose in system settings to display instead of the colorful icon.

Why do you want this feature?

monochrome icons make the home screen much less distracting

there is a system setting for monochrome icons, so i believe Fossify Launcher should check that instead of adding its own monochrome icons setting

Agreed. The feature is officially called themed icons.
