Tap on new message notification doesn't open the app

After tapping on the notification that fails to open the app, what do you see when you open the app manually? Is the thread with a new message marked with a bold font (marked as unread)?

Bold. I also have fingerprint protection on the app but I never had any issue with it with this app before or with any other app ever.

Most definitely happens every time. I guess it has a huge crash on me 🤣.
