Introduction to AdFlake

This page will guide you through the steps to get AdFlake running for your app. All steps listed here require an existing account on AdFlake.

1. Download the AdFlake SDK

After logging in open the Developer Resources page on the website. Select the files to download.

2. Add an app to AdFlake

Go to the main page and select Add Application.

Enter the meta data of the application into the popup window. If the application is not released yet, it is possible to add information stubs. Changes can later be made through the application settings menu.

Now the application is added to the network.

3. Configuring ad networks

At this point the application is ready for configuring the ad networks. Go to the application page.

The application page will list all supported ad networks. You can add/change the your ad network request id's by pressing the setup button listed next to the ad network name. It is also possible to disable the ad network as it is pleased, disabling a network will remove your network id.

To keep changes press save.

The amount of ad network requests can be set in percent for every active ad network. The total amount of ad network request allocation must be 100 %. Disabling an ad network will set the allocation amount to zero.

setting the ad network Backfill Priority

If an ad network is unable to fulfill an ad request, AdFlake will fallback to another ad network based on your prioritized network list.

To change the ad network priority list open the Backfill Priority tab on your application page. Simply drag the listed ad networks to change their priority. The top most ad network will have the highest priority.

Save your changes to keep your list updated.

4. Application Settings

It is possible to configure the ad looks and transitions to match your own app design. You can find them right on your app window under the Settings tab.

Under ad options you can set the background color, text color, ad switch duration and the transitional settings.

There are different ad transition animations:

Transition Description
Slide From Right Slides the new ad from right to left in
Slide From Left Slides the new ad from left to right in
Flip From Right Flips the new ad from right to left in
Flip From Left Flips the new ad from left to right in
Fade In Fades the new ad in
Curl Up Curls the new ad up
Curl Down Curls the new ad down
Random Selects a random transition
None No transition effect

5. Creating House Ads

AdFlake enables you to create custom House Ads.

House Ads will enable you to cross promote your applications in other applications. Users that click this ad are send to a predefined URL. This URL can be a website or the app store URL. House Ads can contain a custom banner graphic or a predefined text with an image.

Create a House Ad by going to the main page and click Add House Ad.

Add your meta data in the popup window. The House Ad settings can later be changed. The meta data contains the name of the House Ad for identifying purposes, an URL for redirection and the URL content type to identify the type of your URL, for example if its a app store link or website etc.

At the Creative part of the popup window the view type of the ad is set.

Setting as Banner will require to upload at least one banner image in the predefined Resolutions: 320x50 pixel, 480x75 pixel or 640x100 pixel, AdFlake supports jpg and png image files.

Setting as Image and Text will require to enter a text with at least 3 and with a maximal length of 64 characters. In the dropdown below the text field the image resource type must be set. Either Based on url content type is set which will show a generic image that fits the content type or Use custom 38x38 image which will require uploading an 38x38 pixel jpg or png image.

A preview of your House Ad can be found on the House Ad settings page which can be accessed through the main page through your House Ad button.

House Ad allocation

It is possible to determine the House Ad allocation like any other network on per app basis. At the Ad Networks tab will be the House Ads treated just as any other network with an activity setting and allocation percentage.

To change which House Ads and how much each will be shown, the House Ads tab must be opened on the application page. In the House Ad menu it is possible to set the activity status and the allocation percent for each of the House Ads.

6. Reviewing Analytics

Once the an application is released and ads are running it is possible to view the ad request statistics. It is possible to access the application analytics by clicking the Analytics button on the application page.
