Make sure the Trump suits really acts like Trumps

I believe, that if any cards in the Trump suits are played, then it is the highest card in the Trump suit that wins the round. Currently, it's only the lead suit that wins.

Ensure that cards from the Trump suits wins over cards in the lead suit.

The question is, how is this really meant to work. The rules are a bit fuzzy, but the instructions for EoP clearly state.

“with Elevation of Privilege taking
precedence over the suit lead. ”

Then you have Cornucopia which states:

“Apart from the content differences, the game rules are virtually identical to those for EoP”

“ Only a higher card of the same suit, or the highest card in the trump suit Cornucopia, wins the hand”

But In video https://cornucopia.owasp.org/how-to-it’s the highest card in the lead suit wins.

What is the correct trump rule? Should the trump cards trump all of the lead suit cards or only the lead cards that is lower then the trump card? What about the edge case where a lead suit card and a trump card is played with the same value. E.g two 5s ?

I really like to read the trump rule in such a way that gives the trump card precedence because it opens up some opportunities when creating new games. F.ex: Conceptually it makes sense that the EoP suit should trump since EoP elevates your attack thereby bypassing security controls. When considering the Cornucopia game. A trump suit could do the same thing by having attacks with a group of attacks that should get a stronger focus then the other categories of attack. E.g by being more severe or focused in regards to the editions focus point (nasty mobile app or website attacks that are more specific for websites and mobile apps)

The way the trump rule generally works is that if you cannot play a follow card you must (if you have any) play a trump. Trump cards, no matter the value, always steal the trick, unless a higher trump is played. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_(card_games)

Copi treats trumps as equal+1 to the follow suite. If you play an eight of the follow suite and someone plays an eight of the trumps it wins, unless another player plays a higher follow or trump.

That makes the game a little more strategic especially given it's not an illegal move to play a trump even if you have a follow card (which it usually is in trump style games).

I am leaning towards following the standard rules and adding an entry to the FAQ regarding the rule and explain why it’s done different in the video. The video shows kind of an alternative way you can play the game.

With regards to the rule where you have to play a trump if you don’t have a lead suit card… I am thinking that it may be good not to enforce this. I like that you can cheat. We just need to give better guidance on how to deal with cheating. I have opened another issue for that. #1324

I didn’t see this written down somewhere. Perhaps we should ammend the how to play text?
