When working in the inst_books page, a common use case is to delete a book instance or template. When this is done, the entire view sets. This is extremely inefficient to navigate through multiple pages, such as when doing a course cleanup. The delete (and perhaps other) operations should remember the filter used to display items (template or not), and the page number being viewed.
