Plot with left and right Y-axes in a mlx fails to export to eps in Live script

Hello, I'm running version 3.44 and I stumbled upon a problem when trying to export a figure with a plot using left & right yyaxis. While trying to come up with a minimal working (failing) example, I have discovered that this problem only seems to happen in Live scripts (.mlx). The exported figure is empty and the following warning is emitted:

Warning: Some uifigure controls cannot be exported by export_fig and will not appear in the generated output .

Same code in .m file produces figure normally.

y = cos(t);

yyaxis left
pleft = plot(t, x, '-');

yyaxis right

I'm not very well versed in Matlab, so if you need some more info to replicate this, I'll gladly try to provide.

There is a built-in limitation of Matlab that causes plots with multiple Y axes (created using the yyaxis function) to be exportable only if they are created in a standalone script or non-web-based figure, not in a Live Script or a live figure.

Hello, I think my issue #408 is similar. However, I have the problem even in m-files. Here is now a minimal working example (sorry for not providing it in #408) in test.m:

Object Copy of Axes with multiple coordinate systems is not supported.

The generated pictures are Salary.png is basically empty.

My Matlab version is 2025b Update 1, export_fig v3.54. I know that this script worked with older version of Matlab and export_fig (in 2024). What happened here?

What happened was that starting in R2025a all Matlab figures changed from being Java-based (until R2024b) to being Javascript-based (uifigures, since R2025a). Many of the mechanisms used by export_fig only work with Java-based figures.

I just tried export_fig v3.43 with Matlab 2025b Upd 1 and it didn't work. Your explanation gives the reason. So, we got darkmode and lost export_fig :-(

Is there a way to change current Matlab into the old Java-based figures? I love your export_fig and it would be very sad if I couldn't use it anymore.

Or, alternatively: Is there a way to crop the figures automatically with pure Matlab, i.e., with print and without export_fig?

You can use one of the following alternatives:

1. Set the Axes's OuterPosition (documented) and LooseInset (undocumented) properties to eliminate the axes margins:
   set(gca, 'Units','normalized', 'OuterPosition',[0,0,1,1], 'LooseInset',[0,0,0,0]);
   You can setup Matlab to automatically apply these properties for every new axes. For example:
   set(groot, 'DefaultAxesLooseInset', [0,0,0,0]) either in your startup.m file or in your program before you create any axes.
2. Use the built-in exportgraphics function instead of export_fig
