Availability of Microsoft.Net.Compilers.Toolset on NuGet matching VS2026 Insiders

The toolset package corresponding to VS2026 should be already available at https://dev.azure.com/dnceng/public/_artifacts/feed/dotnet-tools/NuGet/Microsoft.Net.Compilers.Toolset. Versions 5.0 of the package correspond to VS 2026.

That was always the case, but the "RTM" versions that were part of the previews/releases were then promoted to nuget.org. And that is what I am asking for.

Why them not being on nuget.org is a problem for us: icsharpcode/ILSpy#3517 - some parts of our solution need latest, some released. But the released ones are not on the ADO feed.

Right, 5.0.0 version should be released on nuget.org when that's available - but that will be around the time VS 2026 or .NET 10 GA versions are released - i.e., we don't have the final compiler yet.

It seems we used to have versions like 4.12.0-3.final in the past, I guess that's what you are asking for here. But those are still pre-release, not really "released", and we didn't have them for VS 17.13 and 17.14 it seems either. @333fred should know more about that.

Yes, exactly as pointed out in the md that there used to be matching Roslyn preview packages to the respective VS preview releases.

@christophwille It can take a week or so to get these packages out. We need to ensure all the VS editor and platform packages that we depend on are published first. So it can be a bit of a dance.

Ok, so the idea is that this process doesn't change (even the wait time) although it is now insiders instead of preview.
