Preview deployments to staging environment show 404s for all pages if branch name was used in prior automatic or manual deployments in the past

Consider a single branch name, e.g., new-feature. In the first deployment from that branch, everything works fine. Then, the PR is merged, and the branch is deleted.

However, if one creates a new PR with the same branch name (e.g., new-feature) once again, the deployments go through, but only sidebar navigation is shown — none of the page contents are available, and all pages are 404ed:

The band-aid fix is a manual redeployment from the dashboard, but it'd be great to see this problem resolved properly :)
