Python data loader problem - pip installed library working in terminal but fails in Desktop

I tried installing a library coolprop and while I'm able to use it in terminal mode, the module is not loading in Desktop

Is the notebook saved in the same directory that you setup your virtual environment and installed?

deleted .venv folder and set it up in same folder as docs.. Still the problem.

Correct, the .venv has to be in the same folder as your notebooks (which appears to be docs, for you).

If you are using Notebook Kit, you need to start the preview server within the virtual environment (within the subshell created when you source the activate script). If you are using Desktop, it should just work automatically.

For some reason, preview doesn't work for me at all with Notebook Kit - build works fine.

Using Desktop, the error message seems to suggest that activating the venv is not propagating to the Desktop, because I get the same error as when trying to import a pkg from system Python where I have not installed the library.

When using preview with Notebook Kit, you need to visit a specific notebook. If you just open http://localhost:5173/, it will look for an index.html which does not seem to exist. You will need to go to http://localhost:5173/boa to load the notebook boa.html, for example.

You don’t need to activate the venv for Desktop. You simply need to have a .venv/bin/python3 in the same directory as your notebook. You can test whether it is working by running .venv/bin/python3 (without activating your virtual environment) and then test the import.

And yes, preview in Notebook-Kit worked as well.

That alias shouldn’t have any effect: Python cells are run using python3 rather than python, and I don’t think aliases are visible to Desktop. But glad you got it working! Seems like you fixed it.
