Compress canvases sent over the network

Find a way to compress the canvases that are sent over the network.
I played around with [Run-Length Encoding here](https://gist.github.com/newsch/7a83999db1ff5969c3f47693bdb44901#file-compression-ipynb), and got 60% fewer characters on average for the stuff in #21.
