Mini player stops playback when swiping off screen, especially after watching shorts before, or during normal video playback

I've seen this happening continuously so surely either a bug or a feature of the setting which I'd love to be changed, if possible, please

When playing a video, then dragging it down to produce the mini player, if I've played a short before or while watching the aforementioned video, when resuming the original video and dragging it to mini player mode, once dragged horizontally to the side of screen, slipped off screen, video playback instantly stops on said video.

Once restored to main screen of phone, ie once swiped back from off screen, playback can be resumed as normal.

Why does this happen?

I specifically see it happen as a consequence of playing shorts. Something about the shorts or playing shorts, seems to affect mini player mode, especially when I swipe the mini player video off screen (which would usually still play had I not played a short at some point).

I hope I've been clear with my description of issue.

If horizontal drag is enabled, then dragging the miniplayer off screen will pause playback.

YouTube added this functionality in recent app targets. Older 19.x targets continue to play if dragged horizontally off screen.

Turn off horizontal drag if you don't want the feature.

i definitely want the feature enabled as it's a major convenience for screen space while i browse youtube and able to listen to video playing at the same time.

i'm gathering then that this is not an issue that will be looked at to allow playback while using this feature?

btw, even on minimal player, this issue persists when i tap the home key of my phone into launcher interface, and horizontally swipe to screen edge. the playback stops even then. with minimal player mode, the horizontal swipe feature is greyed out, so it's not customizable. i wouldn't be able ot disable it anyway, it seems.

If you want the horizontal feature but don't want playback to pause, then patch YT 19.43

i patched 19.43.41 on one of my phones. the problem seems to no longer exist within the youtube interface itself, but the moment i go to floating mini window on my phone's launcher, and then swipe the floating window off screen, playback stops again. so now, it's limited it seems to playback pausing "outside" youtube app environment

as you can tell, i have a certain habit when using my phone and the youtube app. this never used to happen, but has been happening in recent times, maybe in last year or two. i've used vanced and then revanced for a few years, and don't remember this issue until recently, whether swiping off screen with floating window in my launcher UI, or mini window off screen inside youtube app.

if it can't be solved, i understand. i'm just informing you of my experience. thank you again

it's an unfortunate compromise, but it works. i hate that youtube caused this issue. thank you for all your efforts to indulge me
