Hi @entenggonza — thank you for your question! Great to hear that you're using PnP PowerShell. Just a quick note: PnP PowerShell version 1.8.0 was released nearly four years ago. Since then, it has undergone numerous updates, introducing new features, improvements and important security fixes. We strongly recommend upgrading to the latest version. The PnP PowerShell module is open source and supported by the community. That means any issues that arise due to platform or API changes are addressed in the most recent versions only. While Windows PowerShell 5 is still supported with critical bug fixes, it no longer receives feature updates. PowerShell 7, on the other hand, is the actively developed, cross-platform version that continues to receive new capabilities. In fact, recent and future versions of PnP PowerShell are designed to work only with PowerShell 7 and above. Upgrading ensures you’re getting the latest features, performance improvements, and fixes plus long-term compatibility moving forward. Hope this helps! |

Hello, brand new user here. I understand that PnP.PowerShell 1.8.0 is quite an old version. I also understand that PnP.PowerShell 3.x and PowerShell 7 are the way to go. However, we still have fairly simple scripts that run on PnP.PowerShell 1.8.0 and Windows PowerShell 5.1. I see that Windows PowerShell 5.1 will be supported by Microsoft for however long the underlying OS it's installed in is supported. But I need clarity on this community's support for PnP.PowerShell 1.8.0.
As I've mentioned, our scripts are fairly simple and we've not had any issues with them for over a year now. The scripts just add users to SharePoint groups and update SharePoint lists. We are not looking to update our scripts at all. But in the off chance that they suddenly stop working, is this community going to be able offer suggestions/recommendations/etc.? Or should I just totally abandon our existing solution and jump onto PnP.PowerShell 3.x and PowerShell 7?
Thank you.
