Field in template-pdf not updated?

Hello - i try to update a fields in a pdf-files using the following code:

doc = pymupdf.open("templ.pdf")

for pageNr, page in enumerate(doc):
  for field in page.widgets():
    if field.field_name == "fieldL1":
      field.field_value = "New Entry" 
      field.update()    

print("\nAfter")
for pageNr, page in enumerate(doc):
  for field in page.widgets():
    if field.field_name == "fieldL1":
      print(field.field_value)

doc.bake(annots=True, widgets=True)
doc.ez_save("test.pdf", garbage=3, deflate=True)
doc.close()

As you can see in the log the field should be updated fine but when i output the new-pdf the fields is not changed.
Why is that?

templ.pdf

Output-File without changed field:
test.pdf

One addtional remark to my question -
I realized that the upate works fine on one of my computer - but not on anyother computer (both windows).
Are there any prerequisites so the update is working?

Please investigate the differences between the two machines: PyMuPDF versions especially.

Hello - checked both installation.
On both machines i have upgraded to
PyMuPDF 1.26.5
But still only working on one of these machines?

Hm, then the files (templ.pdf) cannot be the same.
I've looked at the attached and confirmed your observation: We currently do not support creating or updating fields that contain rich text (the case here).
This is planned for a version in the near future.
I frankly admit that at least a warning in that case would have been helpful ... 😒
