The sensor_msgs/BatteryState should be extended to allow additional information about elapsed and future (estimated) time for charging.
One way would be adding the fields
uint32 charging_time_elapsed # Elapsed charging time in charging mode (in seconds)
uint32 charging_time_remaining # Remaining charging time in charging mode (in seconds)
Motivation
When dealing with a robotic fleet coordination also depends on the state of charge. Therefore, having an estimate when a robot is finished charging is very useful.
Furthermore, statistics about charging time can be useful for trouble shooting (finding bad battery batches, ...).
