New major release?

Is there any appetite for a new major release of the x86_64 crate? It would be nice to get my page table changes available at some point. It's not urgent, so waiting is fine with me, I just wanted to learn if there are any blockers or things you want to get in before a new major release?

A new major release is also fine with me. Maybe we should publish a release candidate first before doing the full release.

Depending on whether y'all agree with my proposal from #567 (comment), I'd like to get that breaking change in.

Now would probably also be a good time to bump the MSRV.
