Summary

This tool allows you to read and write keys to a Redis instance. It supports both Managed Identity and the use of an access key to authenticate.

How to use using the access key

1. Create an instance of Azure Cache for Redis
   • Choose the Basic Cache SKU and the smallest cache size to save cost.
   • Under advanced, enable Access Keys Authentication.
2. After creation, navigate to Settings -> Authentication -> Access key and copy the Primary connection string to a text editor.
3. Open the Cloud debugger and navigate to the Redis -> Read and write keys to the Redis tool. Enter the complete connection string.
4. Enter a key name, value, and expiration time, and then press the Add key to Redis button.

How to use using managed identity

1. Create an instance of Azure Cache for Redis

• Choose the Basic Cache SKU and the smallest cache size to save cost.
• Under advanced, enable Microsoft Entra Authentication.

2. After creation, navigate to Settings -> Authentication. Select the user, managed identity, or service principal to connect to your Redis cache instance. Then press the save button. This identity should be the same as the Cloud Debugger is running under. If you are unsure, use the credentials tool to determine the identity of the CloudDebugger. If this is successful, the identity should be listed under Redis Users assigned Data Owner Access Policy.
3. Copy the hostname found on the Redis Overview page to a text editor. It could look like this: [mycachename].redis.cache.windows.net.
4. Open the Cloud debugger and navigate to the Redis -> Read and write keys to the Redis tool. Enter the complete connection string.
5. Enter a key name, value, and expiration time, and then press the Add key to Redis button.
