Contributing to 2FAS Pass

Thank you for your interest in contributing to 2FAS Pass! While we appreciate community contributions, please note that this project is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BUSL-1.1), which has specific implications for contributors.

Important Legal Notice

Before contributing, you must understand and accept the following:

  • This project is not open source but source-available under BUSL-1.1 (see LICENSE file for complete terms)
  • By contributing, you grant Two Factor Authentication Service, Inc. full rights to your contributions, including the right to use, modify, distribute, and relicense your code
  • Your contributions may be used in commercial products and services
  • The code will become open source (GPLv3) after 2 years from each version's release date
  • You retain no special rights to your contributed code beyond standard copyright attribution Please read the full LICENSE file carefully before contributing, as this summary does not cover all license terms and conditions.

How to Contribute

Reporting Issues

If you find a bug or have a feature request:

  1. Search existing issues to avoid duplicates
  2. Use our issue templates when available
  3. Provide detailed information including:
    • Steps to reproduce the problem
    • Expected vs actual behavior
    • Your environment details
    • Screenshots or logs if applicable

Submitting Code Changes

If you'd like to submit code changes:

  1. Fork the repository
  2. Create a feature branch from main
  3. Make your changes with clear, descriptive commits
  4. Test your changes thoroughly
  5. Submit a pull request with:
    • Clear description of what you've changed
    • Reference to any related issues
    • Confirmation that you agree to grant full rights to your contribution

Contributor License Agreement

By submitting any contribution to this repository, you acknowledge that:

  1. You have the right to grant the licenses described above
  2. You understand this is a BUSL-1.1 licensed project, not open source
  3. You grant Two Factor Authentication Service, Inc. perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to use, reproduce, modify, display, perform, sublicense, and distribute your contributions
  4. Two Factor Authentication Service, Inc. may use your contributions in commercial products without additional compensation
  5. You waive any moral rights to your contributions to the extent permitted by law
