Gx80 replacement?

Hi, i make my own the mechanism to pull the string using ballscrew 1605. Do you think it will work?

Note : I cant get the yzc 133 and gx80 sfu1605 in Indonesia so i use any load cell that availabe. And its only that size. Its 13cm x 3cm x 2,2cm. And for gx80 i just buy any part that available the good enough with 1605 ballscrew.

It may look bulky and not good aesthetically.

Hi, I’ve always used the standard SGX/GX80 linear stage, so I can’t say for certain whether your stringing mechanism will perform reliably. Structurally, it looks feasible, but I can’t guarantee its load-bearing capability.

In the SGX/GX80 design, the primary load is supported by the MGN12H linear rail underneath, which absorbs both the vertical and horizontal forces from string tension and maintains overall stability. The ballscrew (1610/1605) is used solely to move the carriage forward and backward—it’s not designed to bear vertical or lateral loads. I’d recommend testing your setup to verify its stability and durability.

By the way, did you choose the 1605 ballscrew specifically for tennis racket stringing?

yes I choose 1605 for tennis stringing. I have other backup plan if what I have now is not good enough. but it come on 300mm on length. it will make the tensioner longer. still working on the wiring all the part. unfortunatly my main pcb is short somewhere. so my main pcb doesnt function properly. but if I wire it just with jumper wire it work perfectly fine. I order new PCB but it takes time until it delivered.

I will update if anything happen. perfectly fine or a failure..

Hi, you can definitely proceed with your current stringing mechanism — it seems to function properly. The only uncertainty is its long-term durability, but you can continue using it for now and switch to your backup plan if it eventually wears out.

By the way, when using jumper wires, are you able to complete all 16 items in the HW TEST successfully? Specifically for item 16 (tension test), is the drift value stable? And when you apply tension, does the reading increase and decrease accurately based on the force applied?

As for tennis racket stringing, in the current v2.90 version, the combination of a 1610 ballscrew and a TB6600 stepper motor driver has proven to be stable up to 70lb (with a maximum of around 80lb). If you plan to purchase a new ballscrew in the future and your typical tension is below 70lb, the 1610 version should be a suitable choice.

I’m currently testing a new stepper motor driver with better specs and much quieter operation — it might allow for even higher tension in the future.

I have not finished all the wiring. but when I am wiring all the modul, pico, hx711, buzzer, and the display it works. but the buzzer making all the buzz sound. i dont know if it defect or something wrong with the wiring. other than that it start perfectly fine. but I have not wiring all button yet so i dont complete all the test.

The buzzer is not supposed to make any sound during startup.
Is it possible that you purchased a low-level triggered buzzer? That could explain why it’s buzzing continuously when powered.
