Project seems unmaintained - evaluating future options

Hello!

Ive been a user of matterbridge for a while (even to this day) for bridging chat channels in several communities im part of.

Im interested in using it more but there are current bugs that are blocking me from doing so. The main code branch hasn't been updated in 2 years and there seem to be mostly a series of community forks that have been fragmenting out to fix various bugs for various people.

Id like to try and gather interest for making a community fork or adopting and improving an existing one since this software is very useful and supports a lot of platforms. I am talking to my communities to see if anyone from there is interested in helping, but wanted to share this here in case anyone who has a fork already wants to share it or otherwise join forces to co-maintain one fork, rather than each independently maintaining their own.

That said, if the original maintainers are still around and are willing to collaborate on a solution that involves making use of this repo, I would also be open to that (since finding ways to keep things moving officially is way better than making a fork).

There is https://github.com/matterbridge-org/matterbridge apparently, it seems to be the one

I was asking the same thing but I looked in the forks and it looks like they're preparing for a new release

wow thats like... exactly what i was looking for but they are probably in a better position to maintain it given they have the matterbridge github org to give it some more reputational weight than whatever i would have been able to throw together

We're not quite there yet! But we make sure code compiles on master, and publish binaries and docker images. There's also (since yesterday) the matterbridge-git AUR package running from our repo.

reputational weight

Well the official matterbridge org was github.com/matterbridge i registered matterbridge-org org to make it clear the intent is to build a community so it's not just "my" fork.
