metplan first release goals

To help with planning around this project, these are the goals currently I would like to achieve.

Main output:
Provide the Australian community with ready-to-use met. forcing files for CABLE based of ERA5 dataset by the end of 2026.

To achieve this we would need:

• a released metplan version that can treat the ERA5 dataset in a reasonable timeframe
• a released metplan version that produces met forcings outputs formatted for CABLE compatibility
• have created the met forcings for the whole ERA5 dataset with the released metplan
• publish data on the NCI data catalog to ensure wide-spread availability and discoverability.

If not achievable:

• we can work with an unpublished data collection first
• we can provide the data for recent years first and extend afterwards (it can be published with a limited timeframe with other years added later).

Extra:

• compatibility of the metplan package with other machines to provide the tool to non-NCI CABLE users. It can be limited support to some specific types of platforms to start with.
