Description
From TACC:
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to support gmail accounts. Because we are
largely supported by NSF funds we have to abide by the restrictions set out by
the federal government which includes the ability to identify a user in
association with an institution. If you are not able to provide them with a
[insert your domain] email address then I recommend reaching out to Arctos directly
to see if they are willing to support providing an email address.
Alternatively, several universities have the ability to request an EID and an
affiliated email address which they could use. Example from The University of
Texas: https://idmanager.its.utexas.edu/eid_self_help/?createEID&

We recognize that many members have database operators who are volunteers and have been using their personal gmail accounts in their TACC registration, which as you can see is no longer allowed. This new requirement was a surprise to us and we have some more clarity and use-cases to share.
If your TACC account has been deactivated because of the gmail address, a few options:
- please do see if your institution can support you with a email address with your institution's .org or .edu domain
- use an alumni .edu email address if available
- use your business email address and you can open a TACC help ticket to request that domain be allowed
- open a help ticket with TACC to troubleshoot options if none of these will work.
Sorry for the hassle but these new federal requirements took everyone by surprise. The necessary security that a TACC log in affords Arctos is well worth it.
