Sort-O-Tron not working correctly

This is in an SSP world, but when I select the colour to paint in the Sort-O-Tron GUI it is not saving the changes when GUI is closed. Effectively making it kinda useless for it's purpose.

So I loaded up an session just to show you the problem without anything else around to contaminate the log. I also recorded it so you can have the footage of the entire session (minus world load up and shut down):
