How do I "quit" WSL wrappers?

I am using Windows 10, and I was able to get WSL and BUDA runner to work without hanging up BOINC with the latest development release 8.2.7. However, is there a way to shut down the WSL wrapper?

The reason I am asking is I tried doing a clean install of BOINC. One of the last steps in the test is to remove the temporary data directory. I close down BOINC Manager, including the Client, but Windows says I cannot delete the directory because it is in use. I don't see any other programs using this directory, so I rebooted, closed down Manager/Client after the reboot, and the same issue occured.

Since WSL is new to this computer, I suspect it is still running and has access to this folder. To test this, I want to quit WSL, but I don't see a clear way how to do that.

Please feel free to move this to a different category. I'm not sure if I'm asking a question, reporting a bug, or asking for a feature (maybe all three!)

WSL wrapper should be closed when the client is stopped or there is no jobs that use it.
Maybe this is something else that blocks your folder.
I suggest you to use this utility to find out which process blocks your folder.

Hm, looks like we have some kind of leaked handle that was not closed on exit.
It would be nice if you could track it down and fix.

Ok, I have gotten a start on it today. I'm pretty sure run_program_in_wsl is not being handled correctly when used in an if statement, which could cause the leak. I thought I made some progress, but I didn't get it resolved. I'll keep digging into this later.

Two questions:

1. Can I create a lambda function to check that function? It appears that is allowed in the C++11 standard, which I don't think we are using in BOINC just yet. However, it appears that we are calling run_program_in_wsl in a while statement, which the little bit of research I did is also part of the C++11 standard.
2. Should we move this discussion to an issue since it is definitely a bug?

You can create a lambda function is it's small. While working on this issue you can create whatever you want. Later it can be fixed during the review stage.
