I have difficulties with the following question.
I am not sure what the difference is between the options Platform teams evaluate and plan each request separately and Teams ask platform teams to build features for them.
I also find the option Self-service misleading: I would understand self-service in general as "user is using platform capabilities without platform team involvement", but I think this option rather means "user is building infrastructure capabilities on their own without involving the platform team". Is it correct?
How do teams request new platform features or capabilities?
- Individual assessment – Platform teams evaluate and plan each request separately
- Self-service – Application teams build what they need themselves
- Centralized requests – Teams ask platform teams to build features for them
- Shared ownership – Clear process with defined roles, working toward a service-based model
