Features

  • Support subscribing to threads, showing which threads are subscribed to and marking threads as read (PR #758). Note that subscribing and marking threads as read only work when you use a session token. Read more about it in the readme.
  • Don't notify about threads when they're opened in the channel (PR #763). This can be controlled with the new option notify_subscribed_threads.
  • Support commands consisting of multiple lines (fixes #728).
  • Support toggling a reaction by right clicking on an emoji or emoji name.

  • Fix bug which made /slack complete thread hashes. This bug was introduced in version 2.5.0.
  • Fix /slack status not completing emojis when trying to complete without typing anything first.
  • Fix error on some deleted message events (notably Giphy previews).

Slack API changes

  • Fix /slack register not working after Slack made their OAuth implementation stricter.
  • Use the reply_count property of a message instead of replies, because replies isn't provided anymore.

  • Add a proper page for OAuth which shows the code so you don't have to pull it out of the url.
  • Render emojis as emoji characters (fixes #465). Also allow them to be rendered both as emoji characters and as the name (PR #752).

  • Fix bug where not all members in shared channels or channels converted from public to private were shown.
  • Don't switch to the debug buffer when config is changed and debug_mode is on.
  • Print warning when having two tokens for the same team, instead of failing with 100 % cpu usage (fixes #734).
  • Fix bug when handling nicks with non-ascii characters on Python 2 (fixes #747). This bug was introduced in 2.4.0.
  • Readd tag logger_backlog for backlog messages. This was inadvertently removed in 2.4.0.
