Unable to compile and build thesis template

Hello,

please excuse me if this is not the right place to report issues or similar problems. I wanted to write a discussion first and confirm this problem before placing a "real" issue.

I was about to reinstall my second system and installed MiKTeX and TeXstudio and i get the issues as attached and could reconstruct this same problem with a test VM.
These errors were caused after I updated all packages in MiKTeX and wanted to compile and build the thesis HgbThesisTutorialDE document.

The template seems to work perfectly fine in Overleaf but as we have also learned about these tools and were recommended to us, I wanted to ask if this is caused by faulty packages from MiKTeX or something else.

This problem was caused with following versions of the software:

MiKTeX:

• MiKTeX Console 4.12

TeXstudio:

• TeXstudio 4.8.8 (git 4.8.8)
  Using Qt Version 6.9.1, compiled with Qt 6.9.1 R

This is exactly the right place for problems like this ...
I assume you are trying to "compile" the document directly from the Github source directory - which does not work, since the required .sty and .cls files are missing. Instead you should expand the document's ZIP file (HgbThesisTutorialEN.zip) into a separate folder and run LaTeX there.

It may be helpful to upload the resulting log file (i.e., main.log) ...

OK, I can replicate the problem and it is not on your side. Apparently there has been a recent change inside the pdfmanagement-testphase (2025-06-29, v0.96t) package which breaks our setup (again). This may take some time to fix, sorry for the inconvenience. Surprises that Overleaf has no problem (yet) ...
