Is this project still alive? We really need an update!

Hi everyone,

First of all, a huge thank you to the original authors and contributors for creating this plugin. It has been incredibly helpful to many of us!

However, it looks like this repository hasn't seen a major update in about 2 years. There is still a large number of developers actively relying on this plugin for our Huawei AppGallery releases, and we are starting to face some serious blockers:

Bugs in the current version: We are dealing with quite a few persistent bugs (for example, the banner ads display issues in v2.3.9).

Outdated HMS SDK: The underlying Huawei Core SDK dependencies are quite old now and desperately need to be bumped to the latest official versions to comply with new requirements and fix underlying crashes.

Is there anyone (the original devs or community members) who might be able to step in and push an update? Or is there a more actively maintained fork that we should be using instead?

If anyone is willing to pick this up, many of us in the community would be more than happy to help test the new builds and provide logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently, the most critical and heavily used features for us are Huawei Ads and Huawei IAP (In-App Purchases). Many other Huawei services (like Huawei Analytics) have already been deprecated officially and are now just causing unnecessary bloat or compilation errors.

1.Clean up deprecated kits: Remove discontinued services like Huawei Analytics to keep the plugin lightweight and stable.

2.Upgrade the Ads SDK: The underlying HMS Ads SDK is outdated and urgently needs to be bumped to the latest official version.

3.EU GDPR Compliance: We desperately need support for the GDPR consent popup for Huawei Ads to comply with European privacy regulations.

4.Fix existing bugs: There are persistent bugs in the current v2.3.9, such as the banner ads display issues.

Just to add to this—we definitely don't expect a massive update covering every single feature.

For most regular developers, the absolute top priority is Huawei Ads. Secondary to that would be In-App Purchases (IAP), Account Kit, and Game Service. The rest of the kits are rarely used and can honestly be ignored or deprecated for now to save time.

Could we possibly just prioritize updating the Huawei Ads module first? I completely understand that properly updating the Ads SDK (handling new formats, GDPR, and ensuring it can actually help improve ad revenue) is definitely not an easy task. But since it's the core lifeline for our games, getting just the Ads part working flawlessly again would be a huge win for the community. Thanks again!

I am planning to make something from scratch actually. This repo is quite old and I don't want to continue building on top of it. I am planning to make each module as a separate repository/package and one example project implements all. Although I have limited time (just had a newborn), I will start with Ads when I have time.

@sametguzeldev Congrats on the baby! That’s amazing news. Interestingly, the versions you built back in 2021-2022 actually gave me better ad revenue and stability than the recent ones. I'm really glad you're prioritizing the Ads module.

@timi9999 which ad type is mostly used? I am curious about native ads. Is it still being used?

@sametguzeldev In terms of usage frequency, it's mostly: Interstitial > Banner > Rewarded Ads.
I personally rarely use Native ads. However, they can actually be a great alternative to replace Banner ads, especially since the current fill rate for Banners is really low right now.
