Sensitive species checklist
The ECA 2025 meeting discussed an action to explore creating a species checklist with sensitive species from ECA countries, the countries where they are sensitive, and the mandated action to blur, mask, or in other ways withhold information from public portals such as the GBIF portal.
Such a joint ECA checklist could be followed by a test to check if there are sensitive species published without the mandatory blurring.
Possible actions:
- Create a task group with initial ECA nodes
- Create a pilot ECA sensitive species checklist
- Define a routine for additional ECA countries to join
- Develop an automatic test for compliance
