Portfolio Thumbnails

In Joomla 4 the items thumbnails do not get generated properly. I tried regenerating thumbnails, but it does not work. I don't see the spsimpleportfolio folder in the images folder either.
This is the layout I get no matter if I choose masonry, square, rectangular or tower: https://prntscr.com/1qn7ji6

I found the same hiccup in v2.3.4. it's latest as of today Sep 2021: absence of the usual thumb nail folder within images folder.
I hope JS fix it soon to state it's ext as J4 complaint. This has to be slip up in this budding stage as the view button work
