Bug: Bink Bypass fails for LE1 and LE2

While trying to install LE1 Community Patch I experienced following issue:

An error occurred installing the bink bypass, which is required for full modding
support: The operation is not applicable to a file with an open area assigned to a
user. : 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME1\Binaries\Win64\bink2w64.dil*

I tried to install bink bypass manually via Tools → Bink Bypasses which failed for LE1 and LE2.
LE3 bink bypass succeded for an unknown reason.

All troubleshooting steps failed, including:

• Restarting
• Modifying permissions
• Copying game files
• Using LockHunter to find running processes (none)

Encountered the same issue while installing mods.

Try to disable AV, or at least exclude your game installation from it, if possible. If that doesn't work, and neither does re-installing the game to a directory which normally requires no admin permissions to operate, my guess is that this has to do with the hypervisor. Not very familiar with Windows virtualization, but maybe the host keeps scanning some files on your guest vm... somehow?

Either way, this seems more like an issue with the way your VM is set up, and not with the mod manager.

As Steam is able to overwrite files its an issue with ME3Tweaks not overwriting with admin permission if executing the application as such.
