Profile page creation not triggered for items created with flask api

The profile page creation is not being triggered for items created with flask api. This definitely happens in staging and very probably also in production, but I couldn't test it very much there because I didn't want to import random items that we don't need.

The question is if the ChangeNotificationHook should be called. Could you elaborate on how the Flask API communicates with Wikibase, so I can file a ticket upstream?
