Downloads not being sent to qBittorrent

When selecting "download" after searching for a game, it shows the notification "torrent added successfully to qbittorrent" however nothing appears in qbittorrent or begins downloading.

Notes:

• Installation of playerr is in Docker Unraid.
• All other applications (prowlarr, qbittorrent, etc) are also installed in docker unraid
• Connections are successful between qbittorrent, prowlarr to playerr

Hi!! Thanks for the report. If Playerr says 'Success' but nothing shows up, qBittorrent is likely accepting the API request but failing to initialize the download internally.

Please check these 3 things in order:

1. The qBittorrent Execution Log (Critical) Open qBittorrent webUI, go to View > Log > Execution Log. Look for red text immediately after you try to download from Playerr. It will likely say something like "Failed to save torrent" or "Permission denied".

2. Docker Paths (The most common Unraid issue) Does Playerr have a specific 'Directory' set in the Download Client settings?

Scenario: Playerr tells qBittorrent to save to /games.

The Problem: If the qBittorrent container does not have the volume /games mapped internally, it will fail to start the torrent because the destination doesn't exist.

Fix: Try leaving the 'Directory' field empty in Playerr settings. This forces qBittorrent to use its own default save path (which we know works).

3. Category Filtering Check if the torrent is being added to a specific category (e.g. 'playerr') and your qBittorrent view is filtering it out (e.g., hidden in a collapsed category).

Let me know what the Execution Log says!

I have a feeling it has something to do with my paths. I'm using Unraid 7.1.4. I'm getting successful test connections with Prowlarr as well as qBittorrent.

These are my qBit paths:

• completed torrents: /data/torrents:/data/torrents/completed
• incomplete torrents: /data/torrents:/data/torrents/incomplete
• unzipped torrents: /data/torrents:/data/torrents/unzipped_torrents

/data contains:

• /movies
• /anime
• /games
• /torrents/...
• etc.

Hey! Thanks for the detailed logs. That Operation canceled error is the smoking gun here.
Basically, qBittorrent is trying to talk to Prowlarr (Port 9696) to grab the .torrent file, but the connection is timing out. Since you are on Unraid, Docker containers often struggle to connect back to the Host IP (192.168...) due to network isolation rules (NAT Loopback).

Here are the most likely fixes:

The Unraid Setting (Easiest Fix): Go to your Unraid dashboard -> Settings -> Docker. Look for "Host access to custom networks" and set it to Enabled. This usually solves containers not being able to see the Host IP.
Internal Networking: If both containers are on the same custom Docker network (bridge), try changing the Prowlarr URL in your settings from the IP to just http://prowlarr:9696 (or whatever your Prowlarr container is named). This keeps traffic inside Docker.
Quick tip on your Paths:
I noticed your volume mappings are a bit specific (/data/torrents:/data/torrents/completed). To ensure Instant Imports (Hardlinks) and avoid duplicate files later, it's highly recommended to just map the root /data to /data for both containers (Standard TRaSH Guides setup).

My docker network is already configured as such. I tried using the host IP and port as well as the container name and I still ran into this issue. Though using the container names gives me a slightly different result.

These hostnames do in fact exist and are working with other containers in my Plex stack.

I should also specify that I haven't added any hardlinks to the Playerr container, I was simply listing my qBittorrent directories but just realized I made it seem like I set them up as hardlinks. I simply installed Playerr through the app page and used the base configuration (appdata + games directory).

Also I followed the trash guides and was following num 5 on this list:

But I seem to have missed the footnote on the bottom of the page 😅, so I've now updated my qBittorrent path to just /data/torrents.

Based on your logs (The remote host name was not found) and your screenshots, this is definitely a Docker Networking and Path Mapping configuration issue specific to Unraid.

Here is my diagnosis and the fix maybe could work:

1. The Networking Issue (Why you get "Invalid Hostname") In your screenshots, Playerr is running on a Custom Network (intra-net). However, standard Unraid containers (like binhex-prowlarr) usually default to the Bridge network.

Docker containers on a Custom Network cannot resolve hostnames of containers on the Bridge Network (and vice-versa). They are isolated.

2. The Path Issue (Why imports will fail later) You are following TRaSH guides (great!), but your Playerr container is mapped to /media internally, while qBittorrent is using /data.

qBittorrent tells Playerr: "File is at /data/torrents/..."

Playerr looks inside itself: "I don't have a /data folder." -> Import Fails.

The Solution (Step-by-Step)
Please perform these exact steps in your Unraid Docker tab:

Step 1: Align the Networks We need all three apps (Playerr, Prowlarr, qBittorrent) on the same custom network so they can talk to each other by name.

Edit binhex-qbittorrent. Change Network Type from Bridge to Custom: intra-net (or whatever custom network Playerr is using). Apply.

Edit binhex-prowlarr. Change Network Type to Custom: intra-net. Apply.

Note: You might need to update the WebUI port mapping in Unraid if they conflict, but usually, custom networks give each container its own IP or allow port mapping just fine.

Step 2: Fix Playerr Paths (Atomic Moves) To make imports work instantly (hardlinks) instead of slow copying:

Edit the Playerr container.

Remove the path mapping for /media.

Add a new Path:

Container Path: /data

Host Path: /mnt/user/data/ (or wherever your torrents and media folders live).

Apply.

Step 3: Update App Settings Now that they share a network and filesystem:

In Playerr UI: Go to Settings -> Media Management. Change Root Folder to /data/games (or your preferred subfolder inside data).

In Playerr UI: Go to Settings -> Download Clients -> qBittorrent. Set Host to binhex-qbittorrent (the exact container name).

In Prowlarr UI: Go to Settings -> Apps -> Playerr. Set Prowlarr Server URL to http://binhex-prowlarr:9696.

I've aligned Playerr with my custom docker network intra-net that all other containers operate on.

I've remapped Playerr's data folder to: /data:/mnt/user/data

I'm still getting

Though I eventually managed to get it working by using the Prowlarr's container IP from the intra-net subnet. Though I was able to use the container name when setting up the torrent client—binhex-qbittorrentvpn

It also seems that qBittorrent only downloads fully when pressing ones with the red icon. The blues get sent to qBittorrent but get stuck on downloading metadata.
