even in this example, upon clicking the task the console.log is not triggered. I think it's competing with the dragging event and dragging event always wins.

i found the issue, turns out i need to disable edit mode so that the click event gets called, is this specifically called out in the docs?

I don't think it's been specified, but is it a desired feature that you can interact with the tasks in disabled edit mode, i.e. feedback?
It would be possible, but it hasn't occurred to me yet that it makes sense. 😄
