Map lists of user by last_known institution

There is a file in the Dropbox Data folder called ays_faculty.xlsx (also attached).

This has a list of OpenAlex ids for GSU's Andrew Young School. This may be used as an example for when we have a list of people (either uploaded by OpenAlexID or by specifying one or more institutions and topics).

We should have a Map display for the lists of people based on the location of their last known institution.

Hey I know I'm sort of interjecting here's a demo on a basic setup..If there's anything this approach can offer.

I did lsof -i :5000 and then kill -9 [PID]. Because the server "keeps running" and I, wanted to extract the .xlsx data on the backend app.py and then serve that .xlsx column with the OpenAlexIDs, on some Flask API route.

Then on the frontend, query that Flask API route, fetch it and then from the starting point of, oh the API route returned a list of OpenAlexIDs for authors / people, now what? Well, we're ready to start converting those people / authors into the last known institutions (yes, last_Known_institution is a thing designated for and by OpenAlex), and that is all done via the frontend.

At least with this approach, the backend just hosts what already exists in the .xlsx.

The frontend on the other hand does query

So the last known institutions, are attached to the people and the geo locations, are attached to the last known institutions.

The frontend component queries those two API routes on OpenAlex based directly on the .xlsx data that the backend app.py serves on some Flask route.

If there's anything useful in here I suppose it would be reading in the .xlsx data on app.py, serving the .xlsx data on the Flask API route in app.py, and then querying that Flask API route from the frontend and now we have the author IDs. Then with the author IDs we can query OpenAlex from the frontend.

I made a new git commit! It's on the same branch it's just to integrate the original map we had with the new map. The idea is that we don't have to "railroad" our original map out we can integrate the existing map with the .xlsx data, and color-code them "black" or some other color of our "choosing" which is how we distinguish between the institutions which "HAVE" the .xlsx data and the institutions which do "NOT HAVE" the .xlsx data. That is all.
