cac:ContractExtension has 3 fields:

cbc:OptionsDescription → BT-54 (Description of options)
cbc:MaximumNumberNumeric → BT-55 (Maximum number of renewals)
cac:Renewal → cac:Period → cbc:Description → BT-56 (Description of renewals)

I can take advantage of BT-55 if it is >= 1 it means Yes otherwise No.

Having text in BT-54 and BT-57 does not necessarily mean that the contract is subject to renewal.
What are the rules for determining whether a contract is subject to renewal (Yes/No)? Is there an indicator or flag?

Hi,
When it comes to Contract renewal, the fields "Renewal maximum" (BT-58) and "Renewal description" (BT-57) have to be used.
Indeed BT-58 is optional, this may however be tailored locally (i.e. at national level) when required.
"Options descriptions" (BT-54) is for the description of the options, not of the contract renewal; it has been improperly used in the provided example.

I think the only VALID indicator for "Contract is no subject for renewal" is "BT-58 = 0".

"BT-58 is empty" might indicate that renews might be limited but not by count alone.
I.E. if the renewals are limited to a duration of one year, but each renewal might be for the whole (only 1 renewals), a quarter of a year (4 renewals) or even one month (12 renewals).

Yes, if "BT-58 = 0" I am 100% sure "Contract is no subject for renewal". If “BT-58 is empty or missing,” it probably means that the number of renewals is unknown at the time of publication. It may be renewed any number of times (including not at all), so I should take BT-57 into account. The issue with BT-57 is that it is difficult to extract the information, since the text is multilingual, and the description may simply state that you should refer to external documentation.
