system status has issues with linuxhost adapter

Reading the topic a little more - it wasn't just having he linuxhost adapters enabled because we have them enabled at OSC. It appears that they were failing, so I think that may be the crux of the issue - a failing linuxhost adapter can cause the system status page to break.
