What is the status of supplemental geometry support? #1014

Reading this 1 year old announcement, I'd assume it is supported in 7.9.* ( here or here) But if I search the codebase, I cannot really find anything. There was a PR (#744) that was reverted, and there is a draft PR (#761). Both are more recent than the announcement itself. Was the announcement too optimistic? Am I missing something? |

STEP supplemental geometry was reverted. Unfortunately, for 8.0.0 that functionality will be not available. |

It requires full redesign and it is a background task for one of the developers, while she is available.
Unfortunately, for 8.0.0 that functionality will be not available.
