Going to close this in favor of #10, where we've already discussed some potential ways to better interact with calendars. You can share additional thoughts there if you have any. Thanks for the feedback! |

Summary
I would like to request an "Add to Calendar" button for PrairieTest reservations. This feature would allow students to add a
.icscalendar invite that automatically populates their personal calendar with the correct exam time and specific CBTF location.Problem Statement
Currently, students must manually transcribe reservation details into their calendars. This creates two significant risks:
Location Confusion: With multiple testing facilities (e.g., Grainger CBTF vs. Chem Annex CBTF vs. DCL CBTF), it is common for students to auto-pilot to the wrong building, leading to panic and missed exams.
Time/Date Errors: Manual entry leads to typos in start times or dates.
Proposed Solution
Implement a button to generate a standard
.icsinvite upon reservation confirmation.Location Field: The .ics file can populate the Location field with the specific facility name and address (e.g., "Grainger Engineering Library, Room 57").
Maps Integration: This allows students to tap the location in their calendar and get directions immediately, preventing travel to the wrong facility.
Time & Title: Automatically include the exact reservation window and Course/Exam name.
Benefits
Eliminates "Wrong Building" Incidents: By hard-coding the location into the student's schedule, they are far less likely to go to the wrong facility by mistake.
Reduces Student Anxiety: Students can rely on their phone's push notifications for the correct time and place rather than second-guessing their memory.
Standardization: A single .ics file works across Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook, solving this for all students instantly.
