AIX Backup/restore (non)viability

I hate to be a Debbie Downer on this one, but AIX backup/restore will be very tricky for anyone to implement, as the format itself is tied to the closed-source AIX version of JFS.

There is a copy of the program's code floating around of questionable origin as a reference, and this too

Thanks for the info. Sounds like if I wanted to support this format the best way would likely be spin up a QEMU virtual machine with an older version of AIX so dexvert can run the 'restore' command.
However, since discmaster only encountered 13 of these files (only 9 unique) I am in no hurry to add support for it, but I appreciate the info and link.
