Keeping track of changes as well?

Not sure whether it is feasible, given larger collections, but it may be nice to actually save a snapshot of the item before the change has been made. That way I one could actually "undo" unwanted changes...

We considered this, but have hesitated to implement full tracking of changes because if larger collections automatically update their items often this would bloat the database and quickly affect performance. However, if there is interest, there's no reason we couldn't implement it as an optional feature with a disclaimer about use with large or frequently updated collections. Thoughts?

Thanks for creating the plugin - I think it is a great addition to Omeka.

I do believe that it would be helpful feature to have. I am thinking of a scenario where you would assign a specific user, i.e. an intern, the task of updating metadata on some items, and you would want to be able to undo any mistakes.

Maybe a possible scenario for large collections would be to do regular dumps, writing the logs to files and / or emailing those to designated users / user roles. But I am really just thinking out loud.

Along those lines would be the ability to :

• Configure what kind of changes to keep track of (i.e. save prior states)
• Log specific users

Hi,

My last commit (see #12) allows to revert back, because each change of each element of each record is logged (as before), but with the content of the change too. It may not impact the performance, because a log is a one time event, and the rows are never updated, but I don't test it on a big base.

Nevertheless, the "undo" button is not implemented yet, because currently I just need precise logs.
