Slow performance when opening big file #162

Hi,
it can take multiple minutes to open a big file. During that time one thread is fully utilized and the application does not respond.
File
It's a big file with 3 MB and 1200 items but I don't think it's unreasonable big. A few seconds would be fine, but it takes 2 minutes on my machine to open.
