Video CLI Improved Control

The ability to kick of video generation from the CLI is super helpful, but the current constraints prevent more complex sequence definitions from being used.

I created #1220 to showcase a MVP of what more advanced controls could look like by allowing the Parameters for generateVideo to be driven (mostly) direct.

There could be another layer to approach this at such as creating a new table/queue in the database that CS:DM would then process, but that would be a more involved requiring more design work ahead of time.

Thanks or the reply, I look forward to discussing this topic some more. I have been doing a lot of digging around in the automated clip generation space over the last few weeks and am getting more familiar with the constraints and options for doing so.

It seems that the decision from the HLAE team for its end-of-life have changed. They found a new lead maintainer and the development will continue which is interesting news. advancedfx/advancedfx#896

I find it interesting that they do not support Linux, but that seems to mostly be a function of time and expertise.

CS server plugins/mods are a brand new topic for me, but it seems there is a great deal of similarities between the plugin in this project and some of the approaches they take. Looking at things it seems that maybe the only reason that cs-demo-manager needs to maintain its own plugin is to support linux (and macOS on csgo). I would love to know more about that choice if you have time to share.

The main purpose of the "plugin" is to communicate between the app and the game (to control demo playback for example).
There is a "History and reasons" section in this documentation that you may be interested in.

As of v3.17.0 the video command allows much more control, see the documentation, I think this discussion can be closed.
