The documentation needs a section where all the available commands are listed and discussed in detail.

Currently, Alire's application help is the only source for this information, which is intended as a brief and quick command reference, not as an extended discussion of their details.

Including #32 would be an improvement, but I guess you're talking about something different, more extended than the command help.

Yes. The help section is too terse and at best serves as a command reference. There's no extended discussion on the details. For instance, --show-origin is described as Show origin of the configuration values in -list, which doesn't explain what origin means. Is it referring to git's origin, since git origins are mentioned in the help topic? Could it mean where the values are set, which could be in the host environment variables, some other configuration file, or in the alire.toml file? When I execute alr settings --show-origin, it variables in terms of local versus global.
