Can't change files or close Brackets-compare

I'm using Brackets 1.1. on a MAC OS El Capitan 10.11.6.
Brackets Compare will not allow me to

• change which files I am comparing

• close or open new files to compare

• or unclick the compare action

It's not totally user-friendly, but try this:

1. First you need to install the extension by URL (extension manager --> Install by URL) and paste the GitHub repo URL. If you use brackets search and install, you sadly don't get the fix mentioned here: Add save feature #24 (comment)
2. Make sure you have two panes open (eg. View -> Vertical split)
3. Open a file to compare in each pane
4. Click the Show Diffs extension icon on the right-hand pane
5. Use the blue arrows in the yellow diff-balloons if you want to implement a diff
6. Close the extension when you're done by clicking the extension icon again
7. Now you can save each file as you would normally do

Thanks @SimonKibsgaard , this worked perfectly, have a noob question though ... now that i have installed it from the url, how will i get future updates? thanks.

If I am comparing two files, then open a new file I can't exit the view using the extension button anymore with the display complaining that I cant compare different types of files. I think when you open a new file the view needs exiting automatically.. that'd solve it. At the moment I can't do anything when it gets into this state apart from quitting brackets.

I can only open one file at a time(the left pane.). The right pane, click on it and try to click on the file in the navigator column, it will open in left pane only replacing the old file.
How do I open the file in right pane and see the diffs ?
