3d globe webgl not working on windows 11

What happened?

since the 3.12.0 upgrade the globe is just black for one user on windows 11
ive tested myself and it seems fine

can you review the 3.12.0 and 3.12.1 and try understand what changes may have triggered webgl not to render

Steps to reproduce

open look at screen,, big black hole where globe 3d should be

Black globe on Windows 11 after the 3.12.0 upgrade — WebGL context is initialising but the scene isn't rendering, affecting at least one user while others (including the reporter) cannot reproduce.

Area: Desktop / Web UI — GlobePlugin.tsx and Electron's WebGL/ANGLE pipeline.

Possibly related: PR #236 (merged after 3.12.1 was tagged) removed an over-aggressive WebGL shader pre-check that produced false negatives specifically on Windows ANGLE. If the affected user is still on 3.12.1, upgrading to a build containing that fix is the first thing to try.

To help diagnose, please ask the affected user for:

• GPU model and driver version (Device Manager → Display adapters)
• Output of chrome://gpu in any Chromium browser (or the Electron DevTools console — open with F12 → Console tab — while the black globe is visible)
• Whether disabling hardware acceleration in Windows display settings changes anything
• Whether the globe was ever working for them, or broken since first install
