Context: a high-stakes situation room reacting to a supply-supply shock, specifically "if the Strait of Hormuz closes." The job to be done: read global crude exposure at a glance, model a scenario's margin-at-risk, choose mitigations, and escalate a decision, all with a trusted-data audit trail. The audience is an executive in a live walkthrough, not a daily power user.
Helios V2 is a Databricks App demo that turns live energy-trading data into one decision surface: Home (executive chat + global flow globe), Map (operational crude-flow map), Scenario Lab (margin-at-risk modeling), and Action Center (escalation brief, approve→dispatch). Sol is the docked assistant. Success = a snappy, flashy, genuinely impressive customer demo that makes the Hormuz risk feel visceral and the path from insight → action obvious. This is a demo: optimize for the moments a VP sees in a walkthrough, not for scale, mobile, or deep hardening.
Confident, precise, cinematic. Three words: commanding, luminous, trustworthy. It is an energy trading command center, not a flat admin panel. A solar identity (burnt-orange, amber, navy) carries the brand; the data and the live flows carry the drama. Voice is specific and operator-grade, never marketing fluff.
- Generic dark-mode admin dashboards (flat near-black, neutral grays, un-themed component defaults).
- "AI made this" slop: hardcoded clashing hexes, emoji in chrome, un-themed Recharts, side-stripe border accents, dim low-contrast gray titles, wasted dead space.
- Photo-texture toy globes with crude meaningless arcs. The hero should read like Stripe/GitHub's globe, not a default react-globe.gl demo.
- Make the risk visceral. The globe and map should make "Hormuz closing" feel like something is happening, not like a chart. Motion and glow are part of the message.
- Trust is visible. Every number carries provenance (trusted / analytical / scenario / synthetic). No silent actions; the audit trail is always shown.
- One decision surface. Insight → scenario → mitigation → escalation is a single continuous path. Sol is present and contextual everywhere.
- Committed, not decorative. Navy carries the surface; burnt-orange and amber are the only saturated accents, used for action and risk, never ornament.
- Crafted, not busy. Flashy where it lands (hero, the Close-Hormuz moment); calm and legible where the work happens (data, tables, levers).
Demo-grade, not a hardening target, but baseline correctness: body text ≥ 4.5:1 contrast (the #1
"unfinished" tell), large text ≥ 3:1, never color alone for meaning (pair with label/icon), and a
prefers-reduced-motion fallback for every animation. Dark-only; mobile/responsive and full
screen-reader/i18n hardening are explicitly out of scope.
