A clear and concise description of what you want to happen.
Create a tracking system for downloads of theses and dissertations. Each record could include a counter that could be visible to the end users, and the total number of downloads could be reported to the administrators.

A counter that tracks total number of downloads, but doesn't necessarily track per record.
How will this impact users?
A clear and concise description of how many and which types of users would benefit from this feature, or any who may be negatively impacted by the change.
This is a metric that has been requested by Emory's assessment group to track repository usage. It will help showcase the success of the repository. If we are able to record downloads per record, it will show the authors how relevant their materials are to researchers.
