How to run a devnet?

I need to run a local devnet for development, but the documentation is unclear how to it.

Looking around, I managed to find this document, that seems to come from a thundercore, but was unable to reproduce the steps.

At the same time, I have seen some older issues comment that such options doesn't exist, while others have used the --chain=dev, which gives me the error bellow:

Fatal: chain name is not recognized: dev

Is there a devnet mode like geth's --dev? Is there a plan for such a mode? Is there a way to run a one node private chain?

Unfortunately, we broke the devnet mode in v3.3.0. There's Issue #14753 to restore the functionality, but it's not top priority a.t.m.

Is there a way to run a one node private chain? This would be effectively a devnet so it would work for us.
