When the only difference in a URL is a number, it sorts them like this instead of a sensible ascending/descending order (same behaviour is observed in every other Tab Sorting add-on I've found which is infuriating):

1-9, 10, 100-109, 11, 110-119, 12, 120-129, 13, 130-139 and so on.

Firefox 146, Windows 10.

Unrelated to add-on: My TV has the same annoying issue in its TV Guide and when using the Ch+/- buttons, its incredibly baffling.

That is how strings are sorted. If numbers are digits (not part of strings), they can be sorted numerically, but not when they are strings (or part of larger text).

Right, but can't it be changed to sort like I (and presumably others) expect? Maybe as an option?

If you're curious about my use-case, I use Firefox as an image viewer and a lot of my images are numbered and sorted by number.

I am unaware of any way to mass open files in the same order that Windows Explorer sorts them in (ascending/descending) and am unaware of any way to sort tabs that way either so it's very frustrating/tedious when dealing with large numbers of files as they have to be opened one-by-one manually or lots of tab dragging is needed to correct the ordering of the images in the browser.

I suppose I could find a bulk way to pad the numbers on the files with leading 0's as a workaround.

This is generally known as "Natural Sort":
