Unable to upload file with long name

When trying to upload a file with name
Ricardo, David - On the principles of political economy and taxation-Electric Book Company (2014_2001).pdf

I get an error "Error uploading: File name too long: ..."

Please handle long filenames. It should be possible.

The maximum filename length in Linux is 255 bytes for most standard file systems like ext4, ext3, ext2, Btrfs, XFS, and FAT32.
So it would make sense to support filenames of 255 bytes.
